Holding Onto Truth
Course Summary
Holding onto Truth: The Necessity of Believing Five Time-tested Truths
We live in a moment when even Christians are walking away from fundamental truth. It’s time we take another look at some of the foundations necessary for a living faith and a blessed society.
The Forgotten Trinity: Not only is the Trinity the doctrine that most distinguishes Christianity from every other faith, life in the Trinity is the source of every believer’s most precious experiences in God.
Christian Liberty: Because freedom of religion is the foundation of all other freedoms, if that freedom is lost, the rest will soon disappear.
Environmental Stewardship: As in all other areas of life, Christians have good news to share about the environment.
New Apostolic Reformation: The New Apostolic Reformation is neither new nor apostolic in any meaningful sense. Instead, it constitutes a direct attack on Biblical authority.
Hell: A growing number of Christians have decided a belief in hell is unnecessary. The problem is not a lack of Scriptural clarity. Rather, as D. A. Carson puts it, we suffer from “heart embarrassment before the text.”
EFFECTIVE CONVERSTATIONS COURSE
Course Summary
When you read the book of Acts, you begin to realize just how much our circumstances resemble life in the early church. Yet God took those ordinary people and used them to transform the Roman Empire and human history. Join Faith Beyond Belief as we examine the conversation skills Jesus modeled and then trained into His disciples so that they could engage the culture. We'll discuss the basic assumptions we make in conversations, the questions we should ask and effective responses to the challenges these conversations bring to us. More importantly, we'll look at how Jesus defined success in conversations - and how that doesn't always mean being liked by others. By the end of these sessions you'll begin to understand how much God can use you and your ordinary conversations to change the world.

World View Course
The aim of Faith Beyond Belief’s Worldview Course is to equip Christians to engage in meaningful conversations that challenge others to think about the Christian worldview.
But before we can engage others, we have to get clear ourselves on what we believe and why we believe it–or even just get clear on why it matters!
This is why the Worldview Course starts by discussing the most basic ideas: what is a worldview and why does it matter that we have the right worldview? The course goes on to cover other essential topics that every Christian ambassador needs to understand in order to be equipped to represent Christ well in our confused, and often hostile, culture.
Identity Project
Course Summary
In our shortened Identity Project, we examine how the biblical view of sexuality and gender is life-affirming and one that Christians shouldn't be ashamed to talk about. We focus on ways we can understand the biblical view and then share that view with others as winsome ambassadors for Christ. Warning: Because the course is designed to be taken by teenagers and adults it will contain frank and open discussions about sex and sexuality from a Christian perspective.
Classes will run;
Monday June 8 - 12 at 11AM MST daily
1. What is Identity?
In this session we define “identity” and examine what determines identity (race, gender, sexuality, faith, age, marriage, wider relationships, etc.). We emphasize that although we cannot choose our race, or perhaps our sexual attraction, we can choose the things that go to make up our core identity. This session shows that not all identities are equal in impact or importance.
2. What is Male and Female? What is Gender?
In this session, we ask what is “male” and “female.” We also discuss why so many downplay the differences. In contrast, we look at how the Bible defines masculinity and femininity in relationship to each other and with God, not as independent identities. The biblical view teaches that both men and women reflect God’s image. We also discuss how the definition of male should be expanded to include every man, and female to include every woman.
3. The Reason for Sexuality
This session builds on the previous lessons and explores the purpose for our gender differences. We discuss ,“What is sexuality?” and “What role our faith should play in shaping our sexual identity?” This helps us explore the central question of the Identity Project: “Should sexuality shape our identity?”
4. Pornography—Does it Hurt Anyone?
In this session, we examine lust vs love vs attraction. We discuss what pornography is, and how it divorces sexual pleasure from relationship. We also discuss how it destroys the importance of relationships by turning people (especially women) into objects for pleasure, thereby fostering human trafficking
5. What is Love? How do we Love our LGBT friends and family?
This session gives us another way of looking at love. We respond to the claim that, ‘love is love’ by showing how God designed us for four kinds of love: Storge, Philia, Eros and Agape. Each type of love is essential to human flourishing, but they are not interchangeable; they meet different needs. We address why culture has sexualized all forms of love, drastically impacting how we love each other. In contrast, we discuss how we can show God’s love to our friends who deal with same-sex attraction and gender identity issues. This includes an acknowledgement that Christians have mistreated their LGBT neighbours. The session also explores ways to have conversations with others who disagree with the Biblical view of sexuality.
